DBA - 21.01.2008

so i went to this DBA session @ the D’House (DiGi House) Shah Alam yesterday . the experience was great! got to know Digi’s working environment, it’s corp strategy, financial, HR…n lots more.

d house was launced last year by our deputy PM. and it is not like others telco’s tower which is taller, dHouse is only 4 storey building. which has green environment, fresh flowers inside d building, good feng shui perhaps…but ya…really nice n cosy environment.

so DG is about Daring, Different & Dynamic…ppl might dare to be different…but what they do…is/will it dynamic enuff to b different from others??…Digi encourages their staff to be out frm the norm. ya most ppl will d thing because it was done before..’u have to do it because it supposed to be done like tht…’ that what ppl might say when asking y did u do this in this kinda way…n so on… ??

during lunch, i got so many useful thoughts from the Digi’s Dir Corp Affairs, Tunku Alizakri. goshh..he is sooo…humble, motivated yet very simple person..cuz as the CEO (Morten Lundal) mentioned DiGi is about simplicity. he also said tht in DiGi they don;t have staff evaluation, but they do have assessment.(some company used the evaluation to sack some ppl who they don’t like eventhou the person have done the best for the company) as in DiGi, they didn’t only care about the outcome/product that their staff had produced but HOW they do it.because that will make them different. apart from the qualification, DiGi only looks for value & attitude in their recruitment.

a lots of points been presented during tht 1-day session. but i do really like the presentation by the CEO which is the ‘10 things they didn’t teach in MBA’:

1. don’t accept normal as inevitable
2. don’t read management literature
3. most company dysfunctional, CEOs insecure
4. decision are often irrational
5. the incredible is actually possible
6. the small thing matter, celebrate mistakes & learning b challenging, energizes! have trusts & give resposibility
7. office politics is everywhere, one company -mindset is hard to achieve but go liberating when it’s there.
8. simplicity is one of the most important business concepts.
9. leadership is about managing mindsets through symbolism, rhetoric & good judgement
10. DON’T WORK TOO HARD (really loves this last point!! :P)

at the end of the day, we got lots of knowledge being shared, nice individual decorated frame as souvenir and also we brought back with us a not-more-than-500-words-essay assignment which due on 4th Feb 08: "Picture life as it would be 10 years from now. If that’s how life is going to be, what should you start changing to live that live in the best way possible?"

Imbasan 2007 & Goals for 2008

My self-reflection of year 2007:

• handling the same project for 4 times in a row. glad one of d new idea proposed agreed by client. but still, many mistakes been made through out the implementation. reasons: lack of self-motivation-bored-lack of creative ideas.
• tahun paling stress handle core project because sometimes had to do it alone. where resources were taken away for some other projects during d critical time.
• first time involved in an international conference event. glad to be as one of the team. (feb)
• first time being involved in a web development for some client’s project. unfortunately, been outlisted from the team when i had to get back into my core project which i hv been doing for 4 years in a row.(mar)
• 2 of my bestfrens gave birth of their first baby, nandy - baby girl n ezza-baby boy.
• moved to a new apartment at Sentul Perdana.(apr)
• my hubby bought this laptop as what i wish i had since year 2006.(feb)
• met my x(1st)bf tru myspace.lost contact since 1996. he’s married with an oversea-graduated teacher and blessed with an adorable baby boy.(june)
• met my x-bf(2nd) during my project site visit. lost contact since i graduated in year 2002. he’s also married with a teacher and has a couple of boys but not twin.(oct)
• met my bestfren cum senior (unimas) at pasar malam danau kota while looking for mya’s spongebob t-shirt.lost contact after graduated (2002) he’s a bizman, married, a baby gurl named Ara (if i’m not mistaken cuz it was printed as his stall’s name).(nov)
• the highest number of unpaid leave (in year 2007)taken since working in WG.-maybe this is one of the reason my evaluation result was not good.
• the ‘best’ birthday celebration i ever had (was it?). got back frm work, n stayed at home and watching tv with mya untill we sleep.(nov)
• introduced & fell in luv with the term ‘Information Professional’.started my journey as an info pro candidate.(dec)
• Aidilfitri 2007: Alhamdullilah, praise to God, my family gathered again happily in a simple n grateful Eid celebration. and it was the last raya celebration with Arwah Abg.(oct)
• last but not least, the lost of my beloved eldest brother Allahyarham Abg Syidan on 16th Dec 2007.Al-Fatihah…

2008 Goals 

• lessen the number of unpaid leaves.
• to sustain n improve work performance.
• increase my english & BM vocabulary.
• to add more books for my home library collection. (still in the development process)
• upgrade the laptop’s spec.-RAM n harddisk-
• -work n study smart?-on how to be a good working-mother.
• last but not least, to work out all the above goals.
